Steve grew up playing hockey in Apple Valley, MN.  After an extremely enjoyable youth and high school career, Steve played with the Danville Wings in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) in 1995-96.  In college, Steve played hockey for Saint Mary’s University (MIAC - NCAA DIV. III) in 1996-97, and then for the Augsburg Auggies (MIAC - NCAA DIV. III) 1997-2000 where they made a NCAA Final Four appearance in 1997-98, and he was voted all-conference & team captain in 1999-00.

After a fulfilling playing career, Steve moved to Texas to pursue a job opportunity, and immediately started coaching youth and adult hockey.
Steve’s main objective has always been to work on developing the individual skill and game sense needed to play at the next level, with a strong emphasis on team play and team mentality. His intense and passionate way of teaching is truly meant for players that have the desire to be pushed out of their comfort zone to become the best all-around hockey player they can be.

Steve has coached at every level of youth hockey from Mite - Junior A, and has been helping young athletes develop skill and learn the game in the DFW area since 2001. Most recently, Steve was the Hockey Director and Bantam Minor Head Coach for HC Dallas, and Head Coach for the Dallas Stars Elite 15U team.  He also volunteered for USA Hockey to help with the Texas Affiliate Camp, and Rocky Mountain District Regional Camp.  He has Level 4 USA Hockey coaching certification, and USA Hockey director certification (NARCE 2014).
