RAMPAGE U14AAA Coaching Staff 2012-2013

Head Coach - Bryan Smith

The Colorado Rampage would like to welcome Coach Smith to our new U14 AAA program for the 2012-2013 upcoming season!

Coach Smith comes originally from Detroit, Michigan where he grew up playing hockey. Coach Smith moved to Colorado in the winter of 1999. He spent his first years in the mountains enjoying his time in the great Colorado outdoors. He was a raft guide for 3 summers traveling to many different rivers around Colorado. Coach Smith currently enjoys being in the outdoors fishing, hunting, mountain biking, hiking, dirt biking, camping, and really anything outside!

Before getting into coach Bryan has had an extensive career as a registered USA hockey official. He began his coaching career in Breckenridge, Colorado coaching an Adult learn to play hockey class. After this class his career took off due to his passion for teaching and developing athletes at all ages and levels of the game.
Coach Smith worked 3 years with Robby Glantz Powerskating which directly worked into a career with Rocky Mountain Hockey Schools. Coach Bryan was the Director of Hockey for Summit Hockey in Summit County from 2002-2005. He also was the head coach of the Summit High School team from 2004-2007. Coach Smith was the assistant coach for the U16 AAA Rough Riders team under Coach John Paris Jr for the past three seasons. Coach Smith is also a regional scout for the Victoria Royals of the Western Hockey League.

Bryan is currently the Director of Hockey Operations/President of Rocky Mountain Hockey Schools. In this time he has learned so much about the business of the game of hockey and how important is to be a successful coach. Bryan has recruited several teams to play in Europe and completely restructured the RMHS program. RMHS is known for the developing athletes to compete at higher levels and building a great foundation to move forward in the game of hockey.

Coach Smith is also actively involved in USA hockey as a Coaching Education Program instructor and a State/District Camp off-ice Evaluator. Coach Smith currently hold a Level IV USA hockey coaching certification and is planning on attending a level V class in the near future.

Coach Smith has a commitment to the development side of hockey. His coaching is based on the athletes becoming better players and students. All of this can be achieved in his eyes through hard work, accountability, discipline, proper diet, off-ice work ethic, and commitment to the sport.
Coach Smith recently married his wife Carisa and they are currently living in Golden, Colorado.
