Offering players an opportunity to feel out body contact and physical play in hockey can sometimes be intimidating. Many injuries in hockey come through the amount of contact at high speeds, and at the youth levels these injuries are manifested through a lack of knowledge.

The Rampage have sought out to help players familiarize themselves with body contact by putting players in a safer environment where they can learn proper technique at slower speeds and with similar sized players.

Coach Pat Bingham put together a group of drills that allowed players of all ages to attend the camp, and still compete against similar sized players. This helped avoid injury and maximize fun as players were able to utilize their body in a safe manor to gain puck possession. With help from Coaches Joe Stanczyk and Riese Niehaus, players were split into smaller groups to help each pair get individualized information on proper technique. When players had done multiple repetitions on how to safely give and receive each type of different body or stick check, they were put in a competitive environment which helped keep the camp fast paced and fun.

The Rampage will also be hosting a Forward and Defenseman skills camp to help players maximize their understanding of their preferred positions.
